Doris Bartel is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a trained psychotherapist. She has a Masters of Social Work degree from New York University in clinical practice. She also has had additional training in family and couples therapy at The Ackerman Institute for the Family in New York City and is trained in EMDR treatment from the EMDR institute. She has participated in numerous clinical training's since receiving her degree and still continues to attend such training's on an ongoing basis as required by state law to stay licensed. Doris started her clinical career in New York City in 1996 and has maintained a private practice in Seattle since 2002.
Doris has a wide variety of training and experience in such issues as: childhood abuse and trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, death and dying, stress management, anxiety, depression, mind/body connection as it relates to emotional well being, anger management, divorce and separation, sexuality issues and conflicts, relationship discord, sex and intimacy issues, self-esteem, body image, life transitions, chronic medical illness and feelings of emptiness.
Doris' therapeutic orientation is eclectic within a systemic model. The goal of systemic treatment is to use the resources and strengths that the individual and/or couple already have. Her intended role as your therapist will be to provide an environment that is safe, compassionate, supportive and encouraging for exploring new ways of understanding yourself and your relationships.
